Why “Little Ducks”?

While I was in college studying communication disorders, I provided after school care for a local family with a daughter on the autism spectrum. She loved going to the lake to watch the ducks swim, and when it was time to leave, I would say “come on, little duck!” and she would follow me back to the car while we quacked together.

Now, several years later, I see my role as that of a mama duck, providing guidance and a model for emulation for all of my speech therapy kiddos - my little ducks!
